We decided to bite the bullet, and headed off to the Lake District for a break.
Packed the car up, supermarket delivery loaded, all the crap for the dogs loaded, and off we drove that morning. We were heading back to Waternook, the place we had stayed at last year, on the edge of Ullswater.
Once again, those two dogs were fantastic in the car. We stopped a few times, coffee, something to eat and for the dogs to do ‘their business’ and got up in good time the first afternoon (bearing in mind it gets dark early this time of year).
We enjoyed our time there. Lots of walking the dogs, drove around various lakes, took the Ullswater steamer from Howtown to Glenridding and back, Ambleside for little shopping, Pooley Bridge (local made fudge 🥰🥰🥰🥰), Glenridding, Derwent (enjoyed driving off the beaten track a little), Keswick etc.. Saw lots of military flight training going on over Ullswater, and lots of Outward Bound course youngsters doing ‘their thing’.
Once again, we were lucky, as the weather gods looked down on us favourably during our time.
As always, we saw a lot of sheep 😂😂😂. The dogs would like one to play with, I’m sure. We saw some snow on the tops of the mountains, and a big plus going this time of year, was that the traffic was SO much better – easier to circulate, and easier to find a parking place.
