Earlyish pick up from the hotel for our ride back to Cape Town. Sorry to leave that great hotel, but a new adventure lies ahead.
Nice drive to Cape Town airport – took less than an hour.
Checked in for our ‘British Airways’ flight to Port Elizabeth ( was actually a flight to Durban that stopped in PE, so I’m glad I was looking at the flight number when we casually boarded ! It said “Durban” on the screen, and no mention of Port Elizabeth).
Decent flight, baggage arrived quick (I guess as a domestic flight it does), and soon we were in the car on our way to the Kariega game reserve, which was about a 1hr 20min drive away.
interesting drive, seeing how different scenery is in this area. Arrived at the reserve fated, but still several kilometers to reach the lodge itself. We’re happy to see warthog and giraffe on our ride up to the lodge.
Very peaceful here. Just beautiful, and our room (a tent!) is amazing, with stunning views over the valley, bath, shower, large bed, mini fridge etc – my idea of camping !!
Settled in, and had a nice dinner before bed, and a very early start.
