New Years Eve

So, as 2019 headed to a close, we went north up to the Lake District where we are at the time of writing. Journey up was really busy, but we stopped a couple of times, and still arrived in time for a nice dinner.

We are staying at a really nice hotel The Storrs Hall Hotel which is right on the edge of Windermere.  It’s a very nice place, and I’d recommend it ! Nice people, nice room, nice food, nice location. The “lake view” from our room was a little amusing – a window in the side door certainly did reveal the lake ! Otherwise a nice view over my car.  Mustn’t grumble as it really is a nice place ☺️☺️

Took a drive out, and went by Ullswater, Grasmere, Rydal, Brotherswater, Thirlmere and of course Windermere.  Stopped in Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere itself, Ambleside, took the ferry across the lake, saw Beatrix Potter’s cottage etc.  Had a nice day.

The weather has been spectacularly good whilst we’ve been here.  It’s busy, but not like I’ve seen it in summer.

we headed back to the hotel for afternoon tea, sitting in front of the fire.  Nice tea, coffee, finger sandwiches, cake, scones and clotted cream. What better way to spend New Years Eve ?
