Moved on to Franschhoek

Left in the morning for a drive to Franschhoek, which is around 60 mins perhaps outside of Cape Town, and part of one of South Africa’s “routes”. Nice drive up here, passing some beautiful countryside as well as a few shanty towns. Franschhoek means French Hook more or less, so there’s definitely some French flavor around, particularly when you see the number of vineyards !

I came this way many years ago, but nice to refresh it, because I had forgotten more than I remembered !

We are staying at Mont Rochelle (another French sounding name), which is a Richard Branson Hotel which sits on its vineyard.  Very nice, and a super warm welcome on our arrival. We had lunch on arrival, and were amused by our little waitress, who was amazing ‘talking’ competition for Betsy! Very amusing.

We will head out tomorrow, so maybe more to report about then.  In the meantime, some of the amazing views:
