More good times on the reserve doing game drives, but Betsy also used the spa and got her massage which she loved.
Although the weather wasn’t totally cooperating for the second day (rain wise) and third day (temperature wise) we still thoroughly enjoyed it. Whilst difficult to top the first day, it came very close despite some light drizzle, with an amazing sighting close up of the huge bull elephant, and a view of a pod of hippos enjoying the water – with a massive bull hippo and a little baby both there. We also saw evidence that the lions had been busy the previous evening (without going into too much grizzly detail).
The Kariega Game Reserve is an amazing experience. It is big, but not so big you drive for hours without seeing game. The quality of the food and drink is also fantastic when you consider you are miles from anywhere !
I enjoyed the short breaks whilst out, where our guide Wayne would pour coffee or hot chocolate inthe morning, and beer/wine/soft drinks as the sun went down. Nice !
Young couple we met on our final full day where due to get married there which I imagine would have been nice !
When it briefly turned cooler, it was great to have a big fire in our wood burner in our tent ! Very cost, particularly when they topped it off whilst we were at dinner so it was all toasty when we got back.
