So we flew back in, around December 10, did our Covid tests, picked the dogs up, and we were back up and running again.
We then went to Heathrow to pick up Claire and Matthew. Betsy wasn’t aware they were coming, so it turned out as one of the best kept secrets. I had even told Betsy we were coming to the airport to pick up Mark, so even then it was a total surprise. It worked a treat, as I even spotted them coming towards us, and got to turn Betsy the other way 😊😊😊😊
So, day 1 Covid tests, then day 2 results were in, and we got to head out to Battle. Stopped at a little pub for lunch on the way (I think it might have been The Red Lion, but can’t be sure). The Abbey wasn’t open (we knew that)due to the time of year, but we got to walk around, get coffee, but also see the actual field of battle itself.
Next day, we drove down to the New Forest, going to Beaulieu. Bought tickets in advance, and off we went. Had a nice look at the cars, then a walk around the inside of the house. Stopped off in Lyndhurst and had a late lunch at a pub in the town centre.
Afternoon tea at Amberley Castle followed, then we headed over to Windsor to visit the castle, and get a late lunch in another pub.
Bit of time around the house, shopping on Horsham etc before our guests returned.
