Betsy and I went to a Balinese cooking class today (thanks Linda). It was hilarious to start with, as the driver picked us up on time, we left the hotel, and literally turned into the driveway next to the hotel. I don’t often feel lazy, but this time I certainly did (we walked back in case of doubt by the way) 🏋🏋
We started off with a visit to the local market to look at ingredients and explain what they were for. After that, back to the outside kitchen area to do all the prep. I won’t even try to name some of the dishes, but there was chicken and fish sate, mee goring, diced chicken in banana leaves, chicken and papaya salad, stir fried pork in soy sauce, and I don’t know what else. It all finished with us eating what we prepared. It was fun and a good experience.
Lots of chillies, garlic, onion, ginger, turmeric, lime and soy sauce.
We both enjoyed it.
And our new friend was waiting for us when we got back ! –
