Enjoyed a nice day in Bangkok. Relaxing start, breakfast in the room, lunch down by the river, drink in the lounge, look around the chocolate shop etc etc.
Nice to sit down by the river and have lunch. Betsy fed the fish along with her close personal Russian friend.
Interesting seeing what can be done with chocolate nowadays too:
Nice down by the pool at this hotel. Plus all the orchids. They are simply everywhere.
Later we met up with Areerat and Ken, a husband and wife couple who used to work for me in Thailand. It was fun to catch up with them, and they kindly took us to dinner at a nice waterside Thai seafood restaurant in Bangkok.
Closer inspection of these photos reveals that Betsy had begun to eat something she wasn’t happy with, and planned to dispose of fairly soon ! 😂😂😂😂🥰
Up we got, baggage collected from our room, and already packed on our car to the airport by the time we got downstairs. A long weekend in Ho Chi Minh City was good, and a good taste of the city. It was many years since I’d been there so it was interesting to return. For Betsy it was a first, so again, a long weekend was good. I enjoyed it.
We enjoyed the ride to the airport, watching the city gradually get ready for the day ahead:
Checked in at the Thai Airways desk for our flight to Bangkok, then proceeded to make our way through passports/security.
Quick bite of comfort food breakfast at the airport, look around the shops, sit in the lounge, then we soon boarded and were off to Bangkok.
Met on arrival, and headed for the Shangri-La hotel Bangkok which is well located right on the river. Had to wait it out before we could get to our room, as they were doing temperature checks of people, and mine was 0.5 degrees to high ! Sat it out for 5 mins and it was fine again ☺️
Had a great room. Dinner in the room overlooking the river, and watching the sun go down was really nice.
No major events today. Enjoyed breakfast, then relaxing by the pool, reading, watching the world go by. Sat in the lounge area to watch more of the world go by, and later we went for the Hotel’s Sunday brunch, which seemed quite the event, with people coming in from outside all dressed up, friends, families etc. Great selection which included lobster, crab, oysters, shrimp, made to order pizza, made to order pasta, local dishes, and some amazing deserts ! Of course, we ate ours in world record time, and were soon on our way 😂😂
A gentle stroll out in the afternoon to pick up snacks etc, then back to the hotel.
We have enjoyed this hotel. Extremely nice staff, good service, good food, nice room. I’d recommend it.
As we were flying the next morning, we retired somewhat early ready for the next day.
